A Thanksgiving Psalm

On your feet now--applaud God!

Bring a gift of laughter,

sing yourselves into His presence.

Know this: God is God, and God, God.

He made us; we didn't make Him.

We're His people, his well-tended sheep.

Enter with the password: "Thank you!"

Make yourselves at home, talking praise.

Thank Him. Worship him.

For God is sheer beauty,

all-generous in love,

loyal always and ever.

PSALM 100 The Message Bible

We are concluding our look at some of the characteristics of our Almighty Abba Father. This study could go on forever. We will spend eternity being amazed at Him and by His perfection as our 'Daddy' our Abba Father. Through our journey we have tasted of Abba as our Provider, Protector, Adopter, Lover, Savior, King, and last week as our Friend. We also looked at a few truths about us as His children. We have been adopted, are safe and secure in His love, and are royal priests.  These, of course, are only a few of his characteristics as our Abba, and our gifts from Him, and we truly only peeked at these. It has been said that the highest purpose of one's life is to know Abba. I agree.

Let's take some quiet time this Thanksgiving week to thank Him for being our perfect Father in each of the aforementioned areas. Be intentional and specific for each area. As you do, listen to your thoughts and see if they are agreeing with the truth of His character or if there is arguing or doubt. If there is, talk back to yourself with the truth about Him. If your thoughts are in agreement with the 'thank you', smile and tell Him you love Him, too.

Have a grateful Thanksgiving.

“If you want to know want someone really thinks, just listen to what they say after the word  ‘but’ …so it is here with…”but God!”“

Note: “but God” is a weekly ministry of Robinson Outdoors Products written for us by pastor and spiritual counselor, Thomas Paige. “But God” is posted each week on the ScentBlocker website and can be found there along with the archives of messages of past years and months from Thomas. “But God” is also posted each week on ScentBlocker Facebook page and on Twitter.

You may ask, “why would Robinson, an outdoor products company with brands ScentBlocker and Tree Spider, making  products for hunters, spend its time on something like “but God”?”  Great question, as we here at Robinson consider our work place our mission field, our products bearing the John 3:16 inscription our outreach. For 2014, there will be a laminated waterproof jacket pocket insert that contains the salvation message printed in two languages. And, we ask the Lord to provide more opportunities for us to be a light unto a dark world.

What responses do we receive from our customers? Each week thousands and thousands of people read the “but God” message online. We receive dozens and dozens of appreciative emails, rejoicing that a company has the courage to stand up for what it believes despite perhaps it not being the most popular thing to do these days. God has blessed our lives and our  business!

I hope you will enjoy this weeks’ “…but God” as Thomas continues the series, unto the Lord!
