There are few things in this world that I have found to excite me more than listening to turkeys wake-up on a crisp spring morning and fly from the roost. It gives me goose bumps, makes my heart pound, and puts a silly grin on my face. Turkey hunting in Kansas means making your way through tree rows filled with brush, some cactus, wet wheat fields, and CRP grass. It can be chilly and damp, or 80 degrees and sunny. Don’t forget the wind is almost always an element to be prepared for in Kansas. When it comes to my attire during my hunts, I need my gear to be as tough as it can be. Thanks to ScentBlocker’s RECON and Knock Out gear, it is!

Just take a look, RECON gear is described as: Tough on the outside, soft on the inside. That couldn’t be more accurate. Just like all the other clothing in the SOLA line- it is designed specifically for women. Between the top and pants, I have enough pockets for all my little necessities. Everything from my multitude of turkey calls to my cell phone has a perfect place. The fabric is a durable Ripstop material, with reinforced knees and seat for all those times you are sitting on branch-covered ground and crawling through the cactuses. The self-adjusting waist on the pants makes maneuvering a piece of cake without being uncomfortable, and is a huge bonus for pregnant hunters as myself. I love the short collar on the RECON shirt as well. I typically pop it up for a little added protection from the wind, sun, and the ever so lovely ticks that you are bound to encounter. The upper back venting is a lifesaver on warm hunts. This top and bottom duo couldn’t be more perfect for turkey season.

When dressing for a recent Saturday morning hunt, I switched up my usual attire and went with my Knock Out pants, 1.5 Performance shirt, and Knock Out jacket. It had been raining and I planned to sit on the ground on the edge of a wheat field. I knew it would be wet and a little cooler to start that hunt, but I also knew the crisp air would turn muggy and warm once the sun was up. My Knock Out gear was perfect in the weather I predicted. The multi-direction stretch of the material makes it so easy and comfortable to get the job done during physically demanding hunts. The jacket is lightweight- yet warm, and kept me dry. I typically utilize the Knock Out set during early bow season but it has been proven to be beneficial asset throughout the year. The 1.5 Performance shirt is my favorite top I have ever hunted in. It is breathable, lightweight and a staple in my hunting closet while it serves double duty as a perfect Trinity technology layer piece during other seasons as well. If you are looking for a little extra warmth when those spring morning are still a little chilly, check out the Trinity technology hoody! It is a great piece that will also serve multiple purposes through your entire hunting year. Who’s not looking to utilize their gear during every season possible?

Now that you have the “low down” on my favorite gear for turkey season, I challenge you to test it yourself. You will not be disappointed. Whether you are bow hunting or shooting lead at toms, turn to the SOLA line for every wardrobe need.
