I had a chance to put my 8th layer shirt to the test this weekend and was really impressed with the results. To stay in hunting shape I like to run long distances. I had a 33.5 mile “Ultra” marathon this past weekend and wore my 8th layer shirt under my sweatshirt. The weather was cold, windy and miserable but my shirt held out! In fact, it was really warm and dry. With its MicroWick technology, I was impressed with how quickly it wicked away sweat and kept me feeling comfortable. There’s nothing worse on a long winter run than being wet and cold.

I also liked how comfortable the shirt was. With its 4Direction Stretch fabric, I often forgot I was even wearing the shirt. I certainly didn’t chafe anywhere or get irritated by the shirt at all.

The final test was conducted by my wife. She didn’t complain at all on the hour long drive home about how my running clothes smelled! I’ve ran several races and that has never happened. I know the S3 antimicrobial treatment helped keep my poor shirt smelling clean.

I like staying in shape and know my yearlong training regimen helps my fall hikes into my treestand go smoother. If you’ve wanted to start getting in shape for hunting season, now’s a perfect time. And if you’re looking to save money and purchase dual purpose gear, I recommend the 8th layer series as excellent training wear as well.

Available in Realtree Xtra, Mossy Oak Break-Up Infinity, and Realtree AP, the 8th layer gear can be purchased online at www.robinsonoutdoors.com.
