But God- Time to Begin the Journey

But God Image_Color_Cross"This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." John 17:3. From this and countless other passages, it would seem clear that what Abba desires most for us is intimacy with Him. Let's keep that in mind as we continue our journey with our Shepherd through the 23rd Psalm.

So far, as the day has unfolded, we have been fed until full, taken a nap while protected by Him and then led to the still waters He has found for us.

Now it is time to begin our journey. Many of us wonder and try to figure out and pray about just where it is He wants me to go today- what it is He wants me to be doing? To answer that, let's return to the opening statement. What is He wanting in our relationship more than anything else? Intimacy. That's always what love desires over all else.

So, we can be confident that our shepherd who knows us by name, who knows our thoughts and feelings, who knows our hearts, who knows our sins, is going to lead me on the path that leads to intimacy with Him.

On today's path I will have opportunities to question where we are headed, or to trust His wisdom. I will have opportunities to complain about the path or to receive in gratitude that it is from His hand. I will have opportunities to 'go astray' in search of an easier path, or I can hear anew the Shepherd as He calls me by name as He continues on the path He has chosen for me, being assured this path is for my best and our intimacy.

This week, rather than examining the path, I choose to trust the Shepherd.

If you want to know what someone really thinks, just listen to what they say after the word  ‘but’ …so it is here with…”but God!”“

Note: “but God” is a weekly ministry of Robinson Outdoors Products written for us by pastor and spiritual counselor, Thomas Paige. “But God” is posted each week on the ScentBlocker website and can be found there along with the archives of messages of past years and months from Thomas. “But God” is also posted each week on ScentBlocker Facebook page and on Twitter.

You may ask, “why would Robinson, an outdoor products company with brands ScentBlocker and Tree Spider, making  products for hunters, spend its time on something like “but God”?”  Great question, as we here at Robinson consider our work place our mission field, our products bearing the John 3:16 inscription our outreach. For 2014, there will be a laminated waterproof jacket pocket insert that contains the salvation message printed in two languages. And, we ask the Lord to provide more opportunities for us to be a light unto a dark world.

What responses do we receive from our customers? Each week thousands and thousands of people read the “but God” message online. We receive dozens and dozens of appreciative emails, rejoicing that a company has the courage to stand up for what it believes despite perhaps it not being the most popular thing to do these days. God has blessed our lives and our  business!

I hope you will enjoy this weeks’ “…but God” as Thomas continues the series, unto the Lord!

This is great, very encouraging addition to your website, thanks for producing it! I wish Robinson Outdoors could be a sponsor for Midwest Whitetail - another faith-based outdoor organization. Is this something you have pursued in the past? Thanks again and keep the messages coming!
