He Gave Us Life!

We trust you had a nice Thanksgiving. This week in Minnesota we received about 8 inches of snow while watching the thermometer plummet to single digits for daytime highs! Welcome winter.

We began this series of But God looking at Ephesians 2:4, with Abba having the remedy for our condition and having the last word on the subject. This week we're ready to move on to verse 5!

The NLT translates it thusly;

"That even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God's grace that you have been saved!)"

We will only begin to peek at this verse today. What a statement- He gave us life! What great news that is, as it is preceded here by the given fact that we were dead, and even I can figure out that what a dead person needs first and foremost is life! For me however, this statement begs the usual questions; who, what, why, when, where, and how. I so often ask the wrong questions first. What I have discovered is that Abba almost always insists on and waits for me to get to the correct first question, which is who. We"ll look at that for a moment now.

Who receives life? We do
Who gave us this life? He did
Who's idea was it? His
Who initiated the giving? He did
Who's responsibility was it for you to receive this gift of life? His

And finally, Who's life did He give you? His own!

Have you reflected lately on this marvelous Truth? Your life is Christ. Think about that, your life is Christ. This is why He says this in Galatians 2:20

"My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."

There you have it, this new life you have been given is Jesus Himself! He is your life (col.3:4). It is in Christ that we live and move and have our being (acts17:28).

Next week we'll look at a bit of what this life looks like. Until then,
