Abba our Protector

Hello again.

We have been looking at some practical applications of learning to relate to God as our Abba. We have looked at how He cares for us and last week at how He provides for us. This week we're going to sneak a peek at Abba being our Protector. This characteristic of Abba has multiple aspects to it and affects our lives in several ways. We may end up spending a few weeks on this topic. To begin, let's look at Psalm 37: 23-25;

" The steps of a man are established by the Lord, and He delights in His way. When He falls, he will not be hurled headlong, because the Lord is the One who holds (sustains him with His hand) his hand. I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his descendants begging bread".

These verses and others seem to be the base from which the writers get things like Romans 8:28 and 31. The first states that Abba will use all things to work for our good and the second that since Abba is for us, let's not be preoccupied with who is against us, because really, they are fighting Him and what can they ultimately do to us?

It is with his confidence, my Dad can whip your dad, that we go forward on our journey fearlessly. Even when my circumstances look bleak I am called to remember that Abba is the One who has established my steps, holds my hand and sustains me and works all things together for my good. He is quite the Protector.

Thank Him and apply this truth to your circumstances. Next week we'll maybe have another taste of His protection.

Blessings,
Thomas

Note: “but God” is a weekly ministry of Robinson Outdoors Products written for us by pastor and spiritual counselor, Thomas Paige. “But God” is posted each week on the ScentBlocker website and can be found there along with the archives of messages of past months from Thomas. “But God” is also posted each week on ScentBlocker Facebook page and on Twitter.

You may ask, “why would Robinson, an outdoor products company with brands ScentBlocker and Tree Spider, making  products for hunters, spend its time on something like “but God”?”

Great question, as we here at Robinson consider our work place our mission field, our products bearing the John 3:16inscription our outreach. For 2014, there will be a laminated waterproof jacket pocket insert that contains the salvation message printed in two languages. And, we ask the Lord to provide more opportunities for us to be a light unto a dark world.

What responses do we receive from our customers? Each week thousands and thousands of people read the “but God” message online. We receive dozens and dozens of appreciative emails, rejoicing that a company has the courage to stand up for what it believes despite perhaps it not being the most popular thing to do these days. God has blessed our lives and our  business!

I hope you will enjoy this weeks’ “…but God” as Thomas continues the series, unto the Lord!
