S3® Downpour™ Rain Jacket
When you hunt hard you sweat. And when it rains in the back country you need to wear waterproof gear. And when you sweat in the normal waterproof gear it creates a micro-climate inside the garment. If the sweat becomes trapped inside the garment it can quickly form a wet layer leaving you feeling clammy and hot when you're working hard, then becoming cold as you cool off. The Downpour™ is not like other rain gear - it has no equal.
With our Downpour™, the hydrophilic membranes control the micro-climate inside the garment by absorbing and dissipating sweat through the diffusion of water vapor molecules. In testing, Downpour hydrophilic membranes can achieve breathability levels up to 18,000 g/m2/hr on test method ASTM E95: 95 procedure. Downpour™ hydrophilic stops water passing through the membrane. The chemical structure of the membrane is made up of hydrophilic (water loving) groups that attract water vapor molecules. Driven by greater heat and water vapor density, the water vapor molecules move from one hydrophilic group to the next (somewhat like stepping stones).
The Downpour™ outer fabric is made of SMT Technic, which is an amazing super soft, quiet and packable fabric to allow you to as deep into the bush as you can fathom. Combined with the highly technical Downpour™ hydrophilic membrane, the entire system stays soft and quiet in the coldest conditions.
The Downpour™ has S3® antimicrobial technology, and is designed for hunters who demand ultimate protection without the sacrifice of noise and weight. The Downpour™ is a System Layer Three outer wear technical gear for the times when the mountain downpours on you.
