But God- Salvation is the "Christian Life"

Greetings,

Welcome back. We are ready to begin a new focus, moving on from Psalms 23. We are wanting to respond to questions about this thing we call the 'Christian life'. We encourage all of you to send any questions or comments you have to the email address below. In this blog, we want to address the question of salvation. I have found that many people have misconceptions and/or incomplete understandings about this critical topic.

For many who have not experienced salvation, it means becoming religious, going to church, and following a bunch of rules. Who in their right mind would want to voluntarily enter into that? Unfortunately, for some who have, their journey has come to resemble that. We have somehow turned what was advertised as a love relationship into a rule keeping relationship. What a sad condition. This loving Father, who is relentless in His pursuit of us, is viewed by many as more interested in us keeping the rules. We have turned the spotlight from His love onto us and our performance. Have you ever wondered how this has happened?

But God Image_Color_CrossI believe it starts for many of us in how we view salvation happening. For most of us it looked like me inviting Jesus into my heart, into my life, or committing my life to Him. In a very real way, this makes it about me from the beginning. And while inviting Him in is right, I believe we would do well to remember the big picture. What first happened was that it was His idea and that He invited us into His life, into His Kingdom. We respond to Him in faith and it isn't even our faith- He gives it to us. What a deal! I want to return however to the invitation topic. When we have the mindset that we invited Him into our life, our vision is pretty limited, pretty small. We see things from our earthly perspective. When we have the mindset that we responded to His invitation to join Him in His life, our vision gains a brand new perspective. We are in His Kingdom, seated in Heaven with Him today. We are in Christ. We are now free to look 'down' on our earthly circumstances. We are now free to get our focus off of ourselves and how we're doing at keeping the rules, and turn our attention to Him and His love and see that this Christian life is all about Him.

If you never realized that He is madly in love with you and is inviting you into His heart and into His family, I would encourage you right now to thank Him for the invitation and tell him YES. If you choose to do that, please let us know via the email address below.

Blessings,

Thomas

If you want to know what someone really thinks, just listen to what they say after the word ‘but’ …so it is here with…”but God!”“

Note: “but God” is a weekly ministry of Robinson Outdoors Products written for us by pastor and spiritual counselor, Thomas Paige. “But God” is posted each week on the ScentBlocker website and can be found there along with the archives of messages of past years and months from Thomas. “But God” is also posted each week on ScentBlocker Facebook page and on Twitter.

You may ask, “why would Robinson, an outdoor products company with brands ScentBlocker and Tree Spider, making products for hunters, spend its time on something like “but God”?” Great question, as we here at Robinson consider our work place our mission field, our products bearing the John 3:16 inscription our outreach. In every new ScentBlocker jacket there is a laminated waterproof pocket insert that contains the salvation message printed in two languages. And, we ask the Lord to provide more opportunities for us to be a light unto a dark world.

What responses do we receive from our customers? Each week thousands and thousands of people read the “but God” message online. We receive dozens and dozens of appreciative emails, rejoicing that a company has the courage to stand up for what it believes despite perhaps it not being the most popular thing to do these days. God has blessed our lives and our business!

I hope you will enjoy this weeks’ “…but God” as Thomas continues the series, unto the Lord!
