Here I've taken a giant Eland bull with Johnny Vivier Safaris in South Africa...the 7th animal in 4 days....all a prelude to the great lion hunt that starts tomorrow....

We are spending several days bowhunting plains game before we go for the lion. This is a very difficult animal to stalk within bow range....

My quarry....a mature long-maned male lion. Exciting stuff as we will be filming for ScentBlocker Most Wanted TV with videographer Larry Woodward. Bowhunting for a big male lion has all the makings to be the craziest high adventure, adreneline-pumper I've ever attempted....

Maryland’s archery season opened Sept. 15, affording me my first bowhunting opportunity of the 2010-11 season. It was a warm afternoon, with the mercury hovering right around the 80-degree mark as I drove down the farm lane to the parking spot I use when I hunt my field-edge stand....

With opening day of the WV bow season knocking on the door, I find myself excited but a little reluctant to answer. I know that may sound crazy, but it always seems that no matter how prepared I think I am there is still plenty left to do....

When the 2009-10 hunting season ended, it seemed like the next season was an eternity away. Now the 2010-11 season is just a few weeks out here in Pennsylvania and Maryland and there’s so much to do to prepare....

Well, it is getting closer to that special time of year. You know, that time of year when we all try to turn our daydreams into reality. By now you should have a pretty good idea about where that special stand is going to hang. If not, there is still a little time left to get things in order. For me, this time of year is spent checking game cameras and trying to put another piece of the whitetail puzzle together....

Being young hunters, we like to think we know what we are doing and talking about, but when the lights come on our true talents can show themselves. But, this is no way a bad thing. Everyone goes through the young "green" stage of hunting. It's what we learn from at those times that makes us better hunters and makes us to realize how every emotional roller coaster that happens in hunting is all part of the experience....
