The SPF rating system provides you a scent elimination guideline to help you design the best scent control system for the way you hunt. The higher the rating you can combine, utilizing all key areas outlined, the more effectively you will be able to hunt. We recommend at least a combined minimum SPF factor of 100 to be successful and see positive results. The more areas you can utilize in your scent control system combating odor at different levels, the more positive results you will experience while hunting.

ScentBlocker® utilizes the best coal-based activated carbon in the world. Our specific carbon was selected due to having a wider pore size than other varieties of carbon. The ScentBlocker® carbon provides a greater surface area so large odor molecules can be adsorbed.

Scent-Control 101 - Building the Scent-Free Hunter - Garment Care

ScentBlocker® Washability - A common misconception is that carbon clothing cannot be washed. The truth is, all hunting garments must be washed to eliminate odor contamination on the outer fabric. ScentBlocker® fabric is washable. Washing is required before initial use of the garment and recommended as needed for the life of the garment.(Removable carbon liners should be zipped out of the garment prior to washing where applicable.) IMPORTANT: WASH IN COLD WATER ONLY on the DELICATE CYCLE or HAND WASH utilizing only an approved detergent like Scent Shield® Carbon Clothes Wash or ScentBlocker® Laundry Detergent. Regular detergent may leave a residue that can clog the tiny pores of the carbon, rendering it useless for adsorption.

ScentBlocker® Reactivation - Carbon is activated by the use of heat. It is important to follow care instructions on the garment for the reactivation of carbon. Time in the dryer will vary depending on the type of garment you purchase.

SCENTBLOCKER GARMENTS WASHING INSTRUCTIONS (with removable liners):

1.Remove carbon liner – do not wash (follow carbon activation instructions below)
2. Hand wash or machine wash on gentle cycle using cold water
3. Use only approved detergent such as Scent Shield Carbon Clothes Wash or Hunter's 'Carbon' Clothes Wash
4. Hang dry

SCENTBLOCKER GARMENTS WASHING INSTRUCTIONS (without removable liner):

1. Hand wash or machine wash on gentle cycle using cold water
2. Use only approved detergent such as Scent Shield Carbon Clothes Wash or Hunter's 'Carbon' Clothes Wash
3. Hang dry
4. After completely dry, follow carbon activation instructions below

CARBON ACTIVATION INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Place dry garment in dryer on medium heat for 30-40 minutes

IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT use commercial dryers (ie: Laundromat) to activate your carbon. Commercial units dry at a higher temperature, which can cause damage to your garment.
