Robinson Outdoors revolutionized the hunting industry in 1985 with the advent of scent elimination for hunters. The introduction of Scent Shield®, a liquid spray that neutralized human odor, created a brand new product category. So it’s no surprise that we began making scent- elimination clothing with activated carbon as well. We call it ScentBlocker ®. Being life-long, dedicated hunters ourselves, we constantly ask ‘why’. We prod, we poke, we learn, we test, we enhance, we improve – and in the end, we innovate. All of this is done in an effort to build a better mousetrap, or more specifically, to build the best scent-eliminating garments we know how. Garments that allow hunters to get closer to the animals they hunt. We ask ourselves, “Does it work? Does it solve a problem? Is it better? Is it affordable? Is it practical? Is it the best it can be?” If the answer is not yes to all, we go back to the drawing board.

When we talk about innovation, we must first mention the very foundation of our product line, that being the unique ScentBlocker® activated carbon fabric itself. Over the years, through careful testing and tenacious development, we’ve come to have 3 distinct fabric types– ScentBlocker® Plus, ScentBlocker ® Xtreme, and ScentBlocker® SLT. Each of these fills a niche, and provides a solution to an existing scent elimination problem. We also developed a simple rating system called SPF, or Scent Protection Factor, to help you understand the fabric’s ability to adsorb odor.

Our constant desire to improve has led to many of the f ine features you see on our ScentBlocker® garments today. RainBlocker®, a high performance laminate that is waterproof and breathable, was designed to keep you dry and warm in the most miserable weather. BodyLock™ utilizes specific construction designs to solve the problem of human odor escaping before it has a chance to be adsorbed, by forcing it through the carbon filter. SLT™, which stands for Single Layer Technology, is another solution designed to provide carbon deodorization in a thin, lightweight, breathable single layer. This allows the use of carbon in climates and temperatures not previously thought possible or practical.

We know you’ll benefit from some of our other innovations as well, such as the scent-proof zippers found on some of our special garments, again designed to force odor t hrough the carbon filter and not give it an easy way out. Or the leg zippers on our ScentBlocker ® pants placed on the inside of the leg so they don’t make noise on the cables of your treestand. The Pick Pocket™ is a unique, multi-pocket storage system engineered for ultimate versatility (can be attached to jacket or pant), while keeping the items you need most within easy reach.

You’ll also appreciate the little things, such as the rubber-coated snaps we use throughout our garments, or the thoughtful yet practical, side-entry zipper we include on pant cargo pockets so you can get at items stored there when you are sitting down. We would still sell ScentBlocker ® clothing even without all these additional features, but we know that you, just like us, would appreciate the extra comfort and useful items as well. We don’t mean to brag, we just wanted to make sure you were aware of all the attention to detail that we sink into every model we make. We do it ultimately for you, but it sure makes our hunting better too!

Robinson Outdoors almost single-handedly invented the category of scent elimination in the hunting industry back in 1985 with the development of Scent Shield ®. This was the very first product of its kind, intended to prevent deer and other big game from smelling human odor given off by hunters.

Since that introduction years ago, Robinson Outdoors has consistently led the way in scent eliminating innovation. New products were developed to help hunters get clean and stay scent-free. Products like Scent Shield® Clothes Wash and Body Soap were not just fragrance- free formulas; they contain ingredients that prevent the formation of odor in the first place.

Robinson then added useful items like our Body Bath Towel, a pre-moistened towel that provides a Scent Shield ® ‘skin’ formula for scent free protection when there is no access to water. We also created an industry f irst Hair & Body Deodorant, a water-based lotion that when applied to the skin and hair, prevents the formation of odor, even when you sweat!

Robinson and the products continued to evolve with the introduction of a new product called Fall Blend™, another first of its kind product combining the human scent neutralizing properties of Scent Shield ® with the popular cover scent of fresh earth. Fall Blend™ Clothes Wash allowed hunters to impart the smell of fresh earth to their hunting clothing without having to store them in messy dirt and leaves.

When Robinson added deer lures to the line, we didn’t just make another ‘me too’ product. On the liquid lure side, again we ventured away from conventional formulations and made our Still Steamin’™ line of premium lures from single animal urine. This is a more costly process, but one that pays big dividends in effectiveness for our customers.

Other industry-leading innovations include Scent- B locker ® Laundry Detergent, developed specifically for carbon clothing; Dip Wicks™, the first of its kind scent wick for dipping directly into the lure bottle; and Easy Off Face Camo™, a soap-based camo cream that washes off easily with water.

One of the most revolutionary products we developed over the years is Carbon Blast™. This unbelievably effective scent elimination spray was the first and only spray to combine the human scent neutralization capabilities of Scent Shield® with the all-encompassing odor adsorbing properties of activated carbon. It allows hunters to not only kill human scent on contact when sprayed on clothing and equipment; it also adsorbs other environmental odors that the hunter may encounter. This product was named product of the year in 2001.

Finally, true to our long-standing tradition of technical, scent eliminating product innovation, we have created another new and exciting product called White Lightning™. This scent eliminating spray uses a naturally occurring, carbon-like compound to neutralize and adsorb human odor and all other odors. Nothing, except Carbon Blast™, has the same adsorption capability.
